This article covers some Avatax troubleshooting help.
Errors you may face:
Error reading from information from the form. Error. 1) [Microsoft][ODBC Driver 13 for SQL Server][SQL Server]Incorrect syntax near ‘Field’
Error:
Exception. Item – Form item is not editable
To solve this issue, you need to log into the database which is having it. Copy the USER settings for the PSU_1 to all their users.
Due to the security limitations of SAP, you cannot copy your own user settings. Search for the other users and select them.
In this example I’m selecting PSU_2
The issue we had with the add-on is that when calculating the tax for an invoice it would give the error "Exception. Item - Form item is not editable". This is due to an issue with the add-on where it cannot edit fields that are not viewable to the user.
The workaround is to make all fields visible to the user via the form settings. Specifically the line level fields. This allows the add-on to edit the fields. The actual solution would be to update the add-on to be able to edit the fields regardless of the display status of the field.
The issue regarding the splitting of the tax into jurisdictions is on the Avalara side of the solution. The add-on simply is a connector calculating the tax and uploading it to Avatax. From that point it is up to Avatax to properly process the tax amounts there. Here are two screenshots of a sandbox and production where production doesn’t have it set up correctly.
It was also discovered you can create the error at will by doing the following.
- Open the Freight Charges and then click on form settings
-
Then take the check mark out of these boxes:
-
By Default, it will also take the checkmark our of Active. Thus the fields are not active and cannot be edited by the Avatax plugin, triggering the “Form item is not editable”. Check this form if you get the errors.
